The Legacy of Forum 49: A Members’ Juried Exhibition was juried by artists Grace Hopkins and Cid Bolduc from a field of works inspired by, informed by, or otherwise engaged with the figures, work, and values of Forum 49.
In Provincetown in the summer of 1949, a course of programs, discussions, and viewings was offered featuring a group of artists and writers shaping the face of contemporary art. Each Thursday at the 200 Gallery at 200 Commercial Street, record crowds gathered for panel discussions on architecture, psychoanalysis, poetry, jazz, and other media. It began with the forum What Is An Artist? and ended with the all-town panel Everyone’s Forum.
